Star Wars Cookies

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away......

It is a time of galactic celebration
Honoring the birthday of Sam
Gifts of Star Wars Cookie Cutters were given by Jason and Melissa Crown
This meant that we had to bake Star Wars cookies for the celebratory party on Saturday

Upon trial and error...it was determined that the Vader mask and the Storm Trooper mask gave the best results in cookie form.....

However, we used a store-bought sugar cookie dough that contained baking soda....Big Mistake!

We needed a cookie dough that wouldn't rise in the oven...instead, we got cookies that barely held their form.
We had to fix all of the problems with intricate and detailed icing-work.

May the Force be with You!

At the Birthday Celebration with Vader....

Sam Learns How to Bake!

I've recently started to teach myself how to bake...mostly cookies to begin.

Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies from America's Test Kitchen

These came out rich and buttery, with soft cores and crispy edges.

Two Secrets:
1. Melting the butter first and browning it.
2. Letting the sugar dissolve and rest in the melted butter.

Let the sugar rest and dissolve in the butter 3 times in-between whisking

2-inch cookie dough balls....ready for baking!!!

They came out thick and chewy with crispy edges!

Absolutely Delicious!!!
